With final details of the Lotus Festival at Snetterton on Sunday 14th June now confirmed the event really will be a festival of all things Lotus rather than just a race meeting. Let's take a look at the whole day and try and answer any questions you may have. Sunday timetable: click here to down load a timetable When you arrive at Snetterton if you plan to take part in the record attempt you will need to complete an indemnity form and will be given a wrist band so that organisers know you have completed the form. Those arriving in a Lotus will then be directed to one of three main Lotus car parks. Car park 1 will be filled first, then 2 then 3 if your not in a Lotus you'll be directed to a general car park. Those with Historic Lotus Club, LEC, Esprit Forums, NYLOC and East Anglia Lotus Club will all be directed to their club areas. Elise Trophy races will take place at 10am, 11.05, 14.25 and 16.35 with races 2 and 3 being Production class races sandwiched by the faster Modified and 211 grids. Snetterton see's the return of Chris Randall in his amazing Europa while ex-Autobytel Lotus champion from 2001 and ex-BTCC driver Mark Fullalove should be out for his inaugural race in the Elise Trophy with a 2-Eleven. Jamie Stanley was a double winner at Brands Hatch and along with triple 2009 winner Sean Bicknell should give Randall and Fullalove strong races. The Production grid see's last years double winner Paul Quinn back at his home circuit while Mark Speller will be hoping to overcome the 60KG penalty organisers are giving him for a brace of wins at Zandvoort. A highlight of the racing will be the guest appearance of double World Land Speed Record holder Andy Green as part of a fund-raising exercise for Bloodhound SSC, the next record attempt – the target is 1,000 miles per hour! Andy will be racing a Bloodhound SSC-liveried Elise in the Production class. Sponsorship is available for either £25 or £250, and each donor will receive a signed print of Andy with the Elise. The print itself is taken from a specially commissioned painting by World renowned motor sport artist Andrew Kitson. ![]() The rest of the weekends 13 race programme is made up of GT Cup, Toyo Tires Racing Saloons and the Production BMW Championship. Historic Lotus Club parades will take place at 10.35 and 16.05 with over 18 Lotus classics taking part in a parade that will cover all years of Lotus production. Heading the list will be a 1960 Lotus-Climax Formula 1 car that was raced by Stirling Moss. The parade will cover Lotus history and include a couple of examples of the Lotus Eleven, possibly 3 Elites as well as many other examples of Lotus product. The World Record attempt for the largest nu Full information on the record attempt can be found HERE. You can also help organisers plan for the event by pre-registering HERE and by printing off the indemnity form and bringing a completed copy with you to Snetterton. If the record is broken a certificate will be posted to participants, this could take some weeks. In the meantime we will have a video of the attempt here during July and the attempt will be broadcast on Motors TV during the summer. Lunch see's the Pedal Kart race, if previous Lotus Festival soap box races are anything to go by this should be something worth watching as teams compete for the title and a prize of £250 for their club/organisation. The race is being run from Coram through Russell with the finish on Senna straight. f you fancy building a pedal kart there's still time with regulations being available HERE. Lunch will be brought to a close with a parade by Lotus Elan Central of M100 Elan's. The car celebrates it's 20th Anniversary this year and we should see 20 M100's. The afternoons activities will commence with another Elise Trophy race, the second of the day for Andy Green so please give him a cheer if he finishes as the next time you may see him could be at 1000MPH. Classic Team Lotus take to their local circuit at 3pm with a demonstration of a Type 79 Formula One car, an example of the all-conquering ground effects car with which Mario Andretti won the World Championship in 1978. the Type 79 will do a number of laps on a day when Snetterton have given permission for the car to run unsilenced. Unfortunately Martin Donnelly will no longer be driving as he now has duties with his race team in Hungary, that should make the cars owners slightly less nervous! CTL will also have a number of other F1 classics in attendance as well as their support truck for you to wander through and see some very special artefacts. Clive Chapman is also expected to attend.
The final Elise Trophy race will bring the day to a close at 16.35, just after the second Historic Lotus Club parade. Throughout the day we will see a number of trade stands in the main paddock with plenty of parts and merchandise on sale for everyone. Lotus Cars will have the full product range including the new Evora and there's even talk of side ways king and Lotus test driver Gavan Kershaw doing a demonstration on-track at some point during the day. Amongst those who will be exhibiting are Elise-Parts and Hangar 111 while Competition Car Insurance will be holding a Children's coloring competition with a couple of Scalextric sets up for grabs.
