One hundred Lotus cars, plus many more drivers and passengers, signed up early yesterday morning to take part in a track day run by Lotus-on-Track at Silverstone. ![]() It was already warm at seven-thirty for sign on and by the time drivers left the safety briefing, many were looking a tad sticky! The day was run in an 'open-pitlane' format, meaning that drivers could take to the track as and when they felt like during the day. Most making use of the pit garages to find some shade rather than work on their cars.
Lotus Cars were also in attendance, with an Exige Cup and Elise S. Drivers were given the opportunity of seeing how these cars performed against their own, either as a passenger or driver. There was also a rare chance to have a passenger ride in a racing specification 2-11 GT4. Tyre specialist, Adams and Page, had set up in the paddock and did a great job of supplying tyres to those that had perhaps got the last from an old setm or just took the opportunity to acquire a shiny new set on which to travel home. Leading Lotus specialists Sinclaire Motorsport provided mechanical support for the few who experienced technical issues. ![]() Despite the heat, the general consensus was that a fantastic day had been enjoyed by all and there can be little doubt that anyone thinking of doing it again will have to book early! The next LoT event at Silverstone is an evening on the GP circuit on 28th July with the next full day on 25th August. Nigel Goater Links:
